Snap the plate. Chop it into protein, carbs and fat.
Point your camera at amala and ewedu, at a plate of jollof, at ofada and ayamase — and CalChopAI reads it back in seconds. No hunting for food that was never in the database. Lagos or London.
Photograph the plate before you eat. Any light, any canteen, no setup.
Chop
CalChopAI names the dish — swallow, soup, protein — and totals the macros for all of it.
Serve
Your log updates on the spot: calories, protein, carbs and fat, plated.
The problem we actually solve
Every other tracker gives up at the first wrap of eba.
Search a Nigerian dish in a mainstream calorie app and you get one of three things: nothing at all, an American dish wearing its name, or a number somebody guessed years ago and nobody checked.
Dry garri
357
kcal / 100g
Prepared eba
94
kcal / 100g
The figure most sites quote for eba is about four times too high.
They publish the value for dry garri — roughly 357 kcal per 100g — and label it as the swallow on your plate. Prepared eba is mostly water, closer to 94 kcal per 100g. Track a wrap with the wrong one and your day is out by hundreds of calories before you have touched the soup.
Measured on Nigerian plates
Portions come from a study that weighed what 413 Nigerian adults in Ibadan actually served themselves — not from converting an American recipe.
Wraps, ladles and plates
A wrap of pounded yam. A ladle of egusi. A stick of suya. The measures you already use, with the grams behind them.
Palm oil counted
The single biggest thing eyeball estimates miss. A red layer on top of the soup is fat, and it gets counted.

Scan
Swallow, soup and assorted meat in the same frame. CalChopAI separates them, names each one, and totals the calories and macros for the plate.

The question every swallow raises, and the reason most tracking falls apart. Drag the portion slider, swap an ingredient, and the totals move with you.

68 Nigerian dishes are already in the library, each with the household portion it's actually served in — for the days you know what you ate and don't want to open the camera.

Activity
Glasses, sessions and weigh-ins sit with your meals, so the day reads as one picture instead of four apps.
Why CalChopAI
Tracking fails when it takes too long.
Every calorie app works for a week. The one you keep is the one that asks for three seconds instead of three minutes.
Your food is already in it
No inventing an entry for egusi. No logging amala as 'mashed potato' because that was the closest match. The food you eat is the food it knows.
Macros you can act on
Three numbers, colour-coded the same way every time, so you know what tonight's plate needs before you start cooking.
A streak that survives
Logging that takes three seconds is logging you'll still be doing in December. That's the entire trick.
And it isn’t only a food log.

One big pot. The whole week logged.
Cook a pot of stew on Sunday, photograph it once, and tell CalChopAI how many portions it splits into. Every serving for the rest of the week logs in a single tap — including the ones that come out of the freezer.
One photo covers the whole pot
Portions divide evenly, macros follow
Reheat, tap, done — no re-scanning
From the beta
What people say once logging stops being work.
My clients stopped skipping their logs. Photographing the plate is the only version of tracking they'll actually keep doing.

FAQ
The questions we get most.
That's the whole reason it exists. 68 Nigerian dishes ship in the library with the portions they're really served in — a wrap of eba, a ladle of egusi, a stick of suya — and the photo scanner is tuned to name them properly rather than describe amala as 'brown porridge'.
Close enough to steer decisions on. CalChopAI estimates portions from the shape and depth of the food in frame, which lands nearer the truth than eyeballing — and you can correct any item in a tap when it's off.
It estimates the prepared swallow, not the dry flour, which is where most published numbers go wrong. If it reads your wrap as bigger or smaller than it was, the portion slider fixes it in one drag.
Palm oil is counted. It's the thing eyeball estimates miss most often, and a soup with a deep red layer on top carries far more fat than its volume suggests. Cooks vary, so treat a ladle of egusi as a strong starting point and adjust if you know your pot.
Scanning needs a connection to analyse the photo. Everything else — opening your log, reviewing past days, adding entries by hand — works offline, and queued scans go through when you're back on.
A free tier covers three scans a day, which is a meal-a-day habit at no cost. Paid plans are for people tracking every plate. Naira pricing is planned alongside international pricing, and final numbers land with the public release.
