Terms of use

These terms are the agreement between you and CalChopAI. By creating an account you accept them.
Draft for review. This page describes how CalChopAI is actually built and what it really does with your data, but it has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It will be before public launch.
CalChopAI estimates the nutritional content of food, mainly from photographs. It is a tracking and awareness tool.
It is not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent anything.
If you have diabetes, kidney disease, an eating disorder, or any condition where your intake genuinely matters clinically, talk to a doctor or a dietitian. Do not use estimates from a photo to make decisions of that kind. If you are dosing insulin, do not rely on this app to count your carbohydrates.
Every number CalChopAI gives you is an estimate. Portion sizes are inferred from a photograph, and recipes vary enormously between cooks — two plates of egusi from different kitchens can differ substantially in calories because of how much palm oil went in.
Our figures are drawn from published food composition research and from ingredient databases, and we work to keep them honest. They are not laboratory measurements of your specific plate. Use them to steer, and correct them when you know better.
You must be at least 13 to use CalChopAI. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into it.
One account is for one person. The family plan is the supported way to cover more people.
  • Do not upload photographs you do not have the right to use, or images of other people without their agreement.
  • Do not try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or work around the limits of the service, including scan limits and the one free trial per account.
  • Do not use CalChopAI to build a competing dataset, whether by hand or by automated scraping.
  • Do not upload anything unlawful.
Using CalChopAI needs a subscription: monthly or yearly, or a one-time lifetime purchase where it is offered. The monthly and yearly plans start with a 3-day free trial. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play settings before the trial ends and you are not charged; otherwise the plan you chose starts when the trial ends, at the price shown before you started it.
Payment is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. We never receive your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, not in CalChopAI — we cannot cancel a store subscription for you. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for.
Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their own policies. If a charge looks wrong, contact us as well and we will help you pursue it.
We may change prices. If we do, we will give you notice before it affects a renewal.
Your photos and logs are yours. You keep ownership of them.
You give us the permission we need to store your content and process it in order to run the service for you — for example, sending a photo you chose to scan to our AI provider so it can come back with an estimate. That permission exists to operate the app and ends when you delete the content or your account.
We aim to keep CalChopAI running but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Scanning needs a working connection and depends on providers outside our control. Features may change as the app develops.
You can stop at any time by deleting your account in the app.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first.
To the extent the law allows, CalChopAI is provided as is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you take based on an estimate.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of your own country's mandatory consumer law.
